U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., told reporters Monday that the continuing controversies over Rep. Aaron Schock’s spending of taxpayer money on questionable travel and office decor are “very serious.”
However, Durbin said after a speech at the 1871 tech hub that he would not pre-judge whether Schock is culpable, and that he also did not comment on former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. when “similar charges were leveled.”
“The investigation needs to play out,” Durbin said.
He noted that the U.S. House Ethics Committee is considering the situation.
