Agriculture science teacher, Maggie Kendall of Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences found out she has won a $100,000 grant from Farmers Insurance. The proposal she submitted was to enclose a horse-riding facility at the school so it could be used year-round. Chicago High School for Agriculture Sciences is home to Chicago’s only working farm and hosts an equestrian program for regular and special needs kids and adults. She said it was not her efforts but everyone’s hard work that brought the grant money to their school. | Al Podgorski/Sun-Times Media
