Southbound lanes of Interstate 55 reopened late Tuesday after a three-vehicle crash closed the lanes during rush hour near west suburban Darien.

Illinois State Police said all lanes were open just after 11 p.m.

The crash happened at 6:11 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-55 just north of Lemont Road, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2016 GMC struck a semitractor-trailer, bounced off and struck another semitractor-trailer, causing it to roll on its side, police said.

The 25-year-old driver of the GMC and the driver of one of the semitrailers were taken to a hospital. Information on their conditions was not available.
