A customer at a Dolton auto parts store shot a suspect who opened fire during a robbery attempt Wednesday night, police said.

Charges are pending against the suspect, who is in custody and in critical condition at a hospital, said Dolton Police Cmdr. Darryl Hope. No one else was injured.
