Six men have been wounded in shootings across Chicago since Friday evening.
The most recent shooting happened Saturday afternoon in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago Police said. At 4:39 p.m., the 24-year-old was crossing the street at 63rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue when he heard gunshots. He took off running north on Cottage Grove Avenue and went into an alley, where he realized he’d been shot in his right leg. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition.
Earlier Saturday, a 32-year-old man was shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said. He was shot in one of his legs during an argument with another male about 12:45 a.m. in a parking lot in the 500 block of North Kedzie. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
About the same time, a 47-year-old man was shot while he sat in a blue Dodge Charger in the 400 block of North Halsted in the West Loop, police said. Someone got out of a black SUV, pulled out a gun and demanded his car. The victim, who has a concealed carry permit, pulled out his own gun, at which point the carjacker got back into the SUV and started to drive away.. The man followed the SUV in an attempt to get its license plate number, when someone in the SUV fired multiple shots at him.
He suffered a gunshot wound to a hand, and was driving himself to Northwestern Memorial Hospital when police dispatchers told him to stop and wait for officers and paramedics, police said. He was taken via ambulance from Oak and State streets to Northwestern Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Also about 12:45 a.m., a 22-year-old man was driving in the 1700 block of West Huron in the West Town neighborhood when another driver followed his vehicle and fired shots at him, police said. He was struck in his upper back, and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.
At 11:11 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle in the 4000 block of West Carroll in the West Garfield Park neighborhood when he heard shots, got out to investigate and was struck in the buttocks, police said. He was taken in good condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.
The weekend’s first shooting happened about 9:50 p.m. Friday in the West Town neighborhood, when a 35-year-old man was shot in the knee in the 2100 block of West Maypole, police said. The man took himself to Stroger Hospital, where he was in good condition.
